What is “what”?
What is “is”?
Is “is” “what”?
Or “what”, “is”?
Would “would” be “what”
If “if” is “that”;
Is “what” “which”,
Or maybe “witch”?
When “when” is “what”,
What is “is”?

Author's Comments

This poem was originally supposed to be open poetry. However, upon rereading it, I found that it had a strange beat and rhyme to it.

Today in Creative Writing, I suddenly got this poem idea. It's short, and one of my stranger works. I hope you like it.

hi Becky! wow, i really love this poem! you're right, it has a peculiar beat to it, but it's catchy... it almost draws me through the poem, so i re-read it a couple times to pay attention to the words and ideas and rhythm each time. It's fun, because it makes me wonder, what would it be like if all these simple words we knew meant something else? Our whole world would be turned upside down! Or at least ;) our language.

As for suggestions, I only have one: Coming to the last line, I feel like pausing in between the is's, to give it a concluding feel, one last musing statement, so to speak. Or maybe one last puzzled rhetorical question. What is... "is"?, or maybe What IS "is"? though the feel of the first is closer to what i'm suggesting

Great Job!
